"Vampire Wars changed my daughter's life!" Dato Turashvili, prominent Georgian writer.

"This story conquered every mountain in the Vampire Saga genre... Every word written in these books makes you feel as if you are a vampire yourself. It makes readers think that maybe somewhere far far away, at the edge of the world, where no human has been before, vampires exist, or maybe they're somewhere near, like in my neighborhood..." Anano U., student.

"I'm reading the second book of Blood Omen and I'm so interested. Every line and every chapter has something new, exciting and every word of this story makes me think that people would have more interesting life with vampires. I love these books!!! I imagine everything I'm reading and I feel like I'm with the characters and it all happens around me. I'm so excited that I can't stop jumping and screaming. My brother thinks I'm insane. I love these books and will always remember them as one of the most perfect I've read in my teenage life." Meri M., school pupil.

Blood Omen 1 The Vampire Wars Blood Omen Saga eBook Katie Ruth Davies

I really love a good YA Fantasy novel that takes a reader in and makes the magic realistic, but equally takes you on a journey through the emotions of the main characters. Davies doesn't disappoint with the deep emotional insight she provides for the main character, a young teen named Dea facing a difficult time in her life. I loved the friendship that the book starts with between her and her best friend Ana, and the way the story pulls you in makes you feel like you're actually in the room with them sharing their experiences. There are many vampire books out there, but this one has a refreshing angle that I really enjoyed. Davies gives the reader rich details that help in understanding the "whys and "whats" of the dark side of the lore, and that makes it all the more enticing to read. There's a balance between action, suspense, and romance that I found very entertaining. Let me also say that Santi is amazing and the romantic aspect keeps you turning the pages. The ending takes you the suspenseful edge of the next book and I'm definitely interested in finding out what happens next!

Blood Omen 1 The Vampire Wars Blood Omen Saga eBook Katie Ruth Davies Reviews

I must state from the start that this is not a stand-alone book. It is not really Book 1 of a series. It is Episode 1 of a serial. So don’t be surprised and disappointed, as I was, when you turn a page in the middle of the action, and there isn’t any more. The writer, of course, wants you do be disappointed, and immediately go out and buy Book 2. I suppose that’s well and good, but at least now you’ve been warned.
This is a pretty standard vampire book, where the main character, Dea, seems to have attracted the attention of a coven of vampires. All her life she has been able to see vampires, while the rest of humanity can’t distinguish the predators in their midst. Then there’s her best friend Ana, a typical teenager, a Goth who is enamoured with the idea of vampires, and keeps going on about them in the normal inane teenage way. Meanwhile Dea is battling them for real, and trying to protect Ana at the same time. This contrasting view of the same situation is a great writing technique, and Ana is my favourite character in the book.
The other strength in the story is Ms. Davies’ portrayal of the emotions Dea goes through, with her bereavement for her mother, her divided feelings for vampires in general and a few of them in specific, and her terror at the situation she is forced into.
Unfortunately, these strengths do not completely carry the story. The plotline is episodic, with the same pattern happening several times. You’d think the ‘good guy’ vampires would figure out that every time Dea goes into the outside world, the bad guys catch them. But they keep doing it anyway. Their refusal to tell her what’s really going on is great for suspense, but the excuse that she “isn’t ready to hear it yet,” needs to be developed more seriously to be credible.
The characterization also has problems. It seems that every male vampire is pale, beautiful, and wears black jeans. They all rather blur, even the important ones. The female vampires have more individuality.
As well, there is a rather disorienting timeline switch and a lot of general writing errors that a good line edit would have fixed.
In all, a decent story, but uneven in execution. Recommended for the less fussy paranormal reader.
This book is entertaining if you’re into vampires and fantasy romance. It starts to get more interesting toward the end as more revelations are made, which makes a good beginning to a series. Although certain settings and aspects can be similar to Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, the author’s creation of the vampire world is intriguing.
This book really surprised me - gripped me from the very first chapter and didn't let go. There's a good mix of suspense and tension as well as more romantic elements. An easy, fast-paced read and everything I look for in a vampire book. Highly recommend fans of the young adult vampire genre (and just vampire/paranormal romance fans in general) pick this one up. I'll definitely be sinking my fangs into the next installment soon!
The story opens with one of the scariest chapters since Stephen King. Dea, the protagonist, is swept up in a midnight kidnapping by "good" vampires who are protecting her from bad ones. Over the next few weeks Dea works to uncover the mystery of her own past--and the dangers of her fate. The book ends with a cliffhanger that requires you to read volume 2, which I don't care for,but it's a well-written story by a talented writer.
A refreshing take on the vampire genre with indepth alternative world building. From a young age Dea knew she was different as she could 'see' vampires. But she's thrust into facing this supernatural reality when her mother dies, leaving mysteries from her past unanswered. Book One of this series has all the required elements for a YA story action, mystery, and romance, and the ending leaves the reader poised for the next book as the drama escalates. Wendy Scott, Fantasy Author, Lodestone (Witch-Hunt).
I wasn’t sure what to expect based on the cover of this book. I was immediately hooked and drawn in by the opening scene of Blood Omen. I wasn't expecting to like it. I thought it would be a boring take of another human teenager infatuated by vampires. I'm pleased to say I was wrong. True, the story centers around a human girl, but the Coven of vampires guiding her through a dangerous new world are intriguing. Dea, the main character is caught in the middle of two factions of vampires and not sure who to trust. This Series has all the elements that get me hooked mystery, romance, danger, plot twists and more! I loved that this book is not gory, but the suspense is intense. I would recommend this for young adults. My only criticism would be the cover. It is not very eye catching. I enjoyed this read and am looking forward to book 2!
I really love a good YA Fantasy novel that takes a reader in and makes the magic realistic, but equally takes you on a journey through the emotions of the main characters.
